Bush Radio is the oldest community radio station broadcasting to and from Cape Town using the frequency 89.5 FM. It is also possible to listen live to its broadcast via its online live streaming service. It provides content in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa The station was founded in the 80s by a group of activists as a source of independent content during the Apartheid. The station only became legalised in 1992 and started its official broadcasts in 1993. Since its beginnings, it offers a line-up comprised of talk shows discussing topics such as human rights, labour, health care, gender and LGBTIQ. Its programming also includes news reports, interviews, information on job opportunities and entrepreneurship and music shows. Bush Radio engages with the community and supports it through development programmes, media training by offering internships and by supporting music submission by local artists.
