The station began originally as a campus-community radio station in 1995 before becoming a self-standing non-profit broadcaster in 2000. With programming that still reflects the fresh and innovative spirit of the station, it offers a line-up with entertainment shows and various music shows focused on Urban genres and where South African artists take the lead.
