Description
OKANAGAN VALLEY RADIO – From Osoyoos through Enderby and everything in between. From the beautiful shores and lush vineyards of the Okanagan Valley comes a different kind of radio station. The kind of radio station that listeners have been waiting to hear. Radio for the intelligent optimist. With knowledgeable hosts and world class programs. Independent, locally grown, organic and free range without harmful additives – like COMMERCIALS. In 1931 CKOV launched a radio station to serve Kelowna and Penticton. That station called themselves – “The Voice of the Okanagan”. CKOK radio station in Penticton was founded in 1946, and was owned by Okanagan Broadcasters Ltd. The station acted as a repeater for CKOV, and initially the only difference between the two stations was the call sign. And so we’re going to bring back those golden days when radio was king and the airwaves were filled with magical entertainment. We’re Okanagan Valley Radio.com and we’re re-imagining radio for a new generation of listeners. For those who truly remember what radio used to sound like and still own an actual radio, we like to call it “original” radio with new technology. We are embracing the new digital radio frontier, and so OKVR will be in the “cloud” broadcasting with the latest in high quality digital sound on a state of the art media platform. All of our signature shows will be focused on the Okanagan but transmitted across the globe to audiences who will find out about this wonderful valley we call home with just a click of the mouse. For those of you who are at home here in the Okanagan, at work, or at play, you will experience the crystal clear sound of our daily offerings of original oldies, cool jazz, and hot blues on any of your favourite listening devices like smart phones, I-Pads and smart speakers. You can also use Apple or Google play through your vehicles. Our shows are archived as podcasts that you can download later if you missed a show. You call the Okanagan home, and we call you our neighbours. The Daily Courier and the Penticton Herald are the oldest and most trusted news source in the Okanagan. Now you can trust Okanagan Valley Radio to be your own personal radio station connecting the voices of the Valley with information, stories, conversations and entertainment. Give us your ears and we think you’ll like what you hear. We’re the New OKANAGAN VALLEY RADIO.COM, and we’re just getting started.
